Hello everyone, I am planning to assemble an Ikea Besta cabinet system soon and am wondering which tools are truly essential to efficiently and neatly put everything together without unnecessary effort. The instructions usually list only basic tools like screwdrivers, but I have read that some additional tools can really make the process easier. I am especially interested in whether it is sufficient to have just a Phillips screwdriver and a hammer, or if specific cordless drills, hex keys (Allen wrenches), or other aids actually make a noticeable difference. From your experience, which tools are indispensable for assembling Ikea Besta, and why? I appreciate any tips, both professional and budget-friendly options.

Based on my experience, the following tools are essential for assembling Ikea BESTA: - A Phillips screwdriver size PH2, as the screws are almost exclusively compatible with this. - A cordless drill with fine control to tighten the screws precisely without overtightening. - A rubber mallet to gently assemble the wooden parts without leaving marks. - Hex keys (Allen wrenches) in various sizes, as some connectors require them. - Optional: A spirit level to properly align the furniture after assembly. A regular hammer is generally not recommended, as it can damage the material. Additionally, I suggest setting up a stable work surface, which significantly makes the assembly easier.

A Phillips screwdriver, a cordless drill with adjustable torque, and a rubber mallet are completely sufficient. An Allen key is usually included.

When I assembled my first BESTA, I was unsure too and only had a basic screwdriver at hand. It was really stressful to do everything by hand, especially all the screws. Using a cordless drill made the process much faster and less frustrating. So yes, it does make a difference! I would also recommend paying attention to the feel of having the right tools in your hand—that really helps keep you motivated.

A good cordless drill/driver is essential. Without an Allen key, which is often included, nothing works with BESTA. Use a hammer only when necessary; a rubber mallet is better. You can skip using screwdrivers altogether, as everything can be done with the cordless drill/driver.

Absolutely right! I once tried using a regular hammer on a shelf like that – well, let’s just say it didn’t exactly do the BESTA any favors 😄. A rubber mallet protects everything and almost makes assembly a breeze. And hey, a good cordless drill is like your best friend for a project like this – indispensable! With it, you almost feel like an IKEA furniture-building pro.
