Hello everyone, I am planning to assemble an Ikea Besta cabinet system soon and am wondering which tools are truly essential to efficiently and neatly put everything together without unnecessary effort. The instructions usually list only basic tools like screwdrivers, but I have read that some additional tools can really make the process easier. I am especially interested in whether it is sufficient to have just a Phillips screwdriver and a hammer, or if specific cordless drills, hex keys (Allen wrenches), or other aids actually make a noticeable difference. From your experience, which tools are indispensable for assembling Ikea Besta, and why? I appreciate any tips, both professional and budget-friendly options.
In addition to the tools mentioned so far, I also recommend bringing an inexpensive slip-joint or combination pliers. With some fasteners, you need to hold nuts or small metal parts in place to prevent them from turning while tightening. This saves a lot of frustration and avoids damage to the furniture. Additionally, a thin felt or fabric pad can be placed under furniture parts to prevent scratches during assembly. This way, you can work more cleanly and carefully.

Using a cordless screwdriver made it much faster and less frustrating. Exactly! I actually found assembling with a regular screwdriver almost meditative, until I realized that the cordless screwdriver is simply the better choice😉. Just be careful with the rubber mallet—not to hit too hard, or you’ll end up with dents. In the end, having the right tools makes the furniture project much more enjoyable and quicker – a worthwhile investment.
