Hello everyone, I am about to move and have several IKEA Platsa units at my home. Since these furniture pieces are quite modular and partly firmly screwed together, I want to disassemble them as efficiently and without damage as possible, and then reassemble them at the new place. My specific question is: What is the best way to take apart and rebuild IKEA Platsa during a move to avoid damage, ensure quick assembly, and make optimal use of the original parts? Are there any special tips, tools, or a preferred order for loosening screws and components? I look forward to your advice and experiences!

Always start with the doors and shelves, as they provide stability once in place.Thank you, I wasn’t aware of this order. It makes sense, as the framework remains more stable that way. Does anyone have tips on how to best remove the doors from the hinges without damaging the fittings? And when reinstalling: Are the hinges durable enough to handle multiple removals and installations?

Does anyone have tips on how to remove doors from the hinges without damaging the fittings? To remove doors with Platsa hinges: These hinges usually have a quick-release mechanism (a small metal tab) that you can gently lift with a screwdriver. After that, the door can be easily lifted off. It’s important to work carefully to avoid damaging the paint or the material. When reinstalling, avoid forcing the hinges too often, as the plastic parts in the fittings can become brittle over time. If you are handling many modules, I recommend getting spare hinges. Does this help?

- Use sturdy ceilings or bubble wrap to protect delicate surfaces from scratches.
- Collect screws and small parts in labeled bags to avoid mix-ups.
- Store larger panels flat whenever possible to prevent warping.
- During transport, ensure that no heavy objects are pressed against the panels.
This way, everything stays intact and the reconstruction goes smoothly.
