Hello everyone, I recently bought an Ikea Platsa system and want to securely fix it to my laminate floor. The challenge is that I want to prevent the furniture from wobbling or shifting during use, while at the same time avoiding any damage to the laminate. I’m looking for a way to firmly stabilize the Platsa cabinet unit without scratching or permanently damaging the surface of the laminate floor. Are there any proven methods or products that help secure furniture in a stable and floor-friendly way? Maybe there are special pads, fasteners, or techniques I could use? Thanks in advance for your tips and experiences!

It is best to use felt pads under the feet of the Platsa. This protects the floor and prevents slipping. If necessary, the furniture can be additionally secured with wall anchors.

Hello, your concern is very understandable. To securely fix the Ikea Platsa on laminate flooring while protecting the floor at the same time, I recommend the following steps:
- Definitely use felt pads or rubberized protective pads under the feet to prevent scratches.
- For increased stability, you can connect the Platsa units using the supplied connectors; this helps them stand more firmly.
- Additionally, it is advisable to use furniture anchors or screw hooks to secure the cabinets to the wall. These prevent tipping and reduce wobbling.
- When using screws for wall mounting, make sure not to drill too deeply into the laminate floor—better to drill directly into the wall behind it.
I hope this helps you!

Good start here. I’d like to add that there are special anti-slip mats or double-sided adhesive tapes you can place between laminate flooring and furniture feet to prevent slipping. However, with adhesive tapes, you need to be careful as they may leave residue.

Another option is to secure the Platsa furniture additionally with the supplied wall fixings. This is always the more stable solution and also protects children from accidents.

If you want to modify the feet: height-adjustable furniture gliders with rubber are very useful for compensating unevenness and at the same time protecting the floor.

Thank you for the responses so far! To be a bit more precise: my laminate flooring is installed over a screed floor that is quite level. Unfortunately, the Platsa units are not always completely stable, especially when I place longer cabinets side by side or apply pressure to the carcasses. I like the idea of special non-slip mats, but I am concerned about sticky residues. Is there a way to secure the Platsa furniture at the back to the wall without having to drill into the laminate? Or are there specific setups for IKEA furniture that can be used to keep theming-consistent solutions?

Great question!

In your case, I would recommend definitely using the included brackets or furniture anchors for wall attachment. These are usually mounted both to the wall and the furniture piece—specifically on the back, at the top of the cabinet. Nothing is drilled into the laminate; only the wall is drilled. Before drilling, you should of course check what type of wall you have (drywall, concrete, etc.).

This greatly increases stability and prevents wobbling or tipping. For additional protection of the laminate at the bottom, you can attach felt pads to the feet. These prevent both scratches and unwanted slipping.

If the Platsa elements are joined together, use the connection screws provided by Ikea—this is standard for such modular systems and ensures closed, solid rows.
