bedu37Hello everyone,
I recently ordered an IKEA Platsa cabinet and discovered during assembly that some parts are either missing or damaged. My question is: What are the best steps to take when IKEA Platsa parts are missing or broken?
Specifically, I’m interested in how to most efficiently request replacement parts, whether customer service is responsive and quick, and if it’s better to ask for replacements directly in-store or use the online customer service instead.
I would also appreciate hearing about experiences with waiting times, communication, and any DIY solutions to temporarily solve the problem. Thanks in advance for your advice!

The approach to dealing with missing parts depends greatly on when the issue is discovered.
Additionally, it’s important to determine whether the parts were missing from the package or damaged due to transport.
It is crucial to document everything thoroughly, take photos, and prepare a detailed list including part numbers.
This is the best way to significantly increase the chances of IKEA responding favorably.
Additional information:
- In case of damage or missing parts for IKEA Platsa furniture, clear documentation is essential (including part and article numbers).
- When contacting IKEA, using the online spare parts order form is usually more efficient than calling.
- If the waiting time is particularly critical, visiting the store in person can be worthwhile to obtain spare parts quickly—depending on availability.
- Please note that some parts are only available in-store and cannot be shipped.
- For cosmetic damage to parts, photos should also be taken and reported before assembly.
These points increase the chances of a prompt resolution.

I once had this situation with my Platsa set, and it worked out great! :-)
Briefly about my case: a shelf board was broken. I filled out the online form – it was really easy, and I received the replacement part within a week.
So: don’t worry, IKEA usually handles this quickly. Stay persistent and be polite, that often helps! Good luck!
