Hello everyone,
Due to our upcoming baby, we need to install a door.
We initially considered a sliding door that would sit flush against the left wall. However, we've been told that such a door doesn’t exist.
Do you have any ideas for a cost-effective solution?
The opening is 94 cm (37 inches) wide and 196 cm (77 inches) high. Unfortunately, there is a gap at the bottom because of the staircase. I would like to drill into the wall above the opening at a height of around 223 cm ± 5 cm (88 ± 2 inches) if necessary, as the metal detector goes off below there (probably a beam).
We’re a bit unsure how to proceed.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Maybe consider installing a folding frame?
I haven’t quite understood the issue with the sliding door yet. Is it about a gap always remaining on the left side?
In general, a (glass) sliding door is not ideal for a private retreat. I would suggest a proper door panel for privacy and sound insulation.

Yes, we were told that the sliding door does not close all the way to the wall.
I was actually hoping for a soft-close feature that would slow the door down just before it reaches the wall and then gently pull it against the wall.

In general, a (glass) sliding door is usually not ideal for a private retreat. I would think of a conventional door leaf for privacy and sound insulation.
