Good evening,

we are currently planning our kitchen and feeling quite unsure about the choice of handles. We would actually like to combine handles and knobs, but I’m not sure how to divide them so it doesn’t become too busy. I would prefer knobs on the tall cabinets with glass doors, but on which other cabinets would that work? For the dishwasher and refrigerator, it makes more sense to use handles due to practicality.

Do you have any ideas on which handles and knobs can be combined and how you would arrange them?

Thank you!

Thanks for the tip! Would you recommend arranging all the handles horizontally then? On the cabinets with right- or left-hand hinges, and in the center for the others?
No, I would arrange the handles vertically on cabinet doors.
Since you seem to have a kitchen design program, take a look there and see what you prefer.
But as already mentioned, make sure to use drawers for the base cabinets if they are 60cm (24 inches) deep.

I wouldn’t choose knobs either. I don’t like mixing styles, and I also find handles more practical.

I also find that handles are much more practical. With them, you can even open a cabinet using just your little finger if necessary, which is considerably more difficult with knobs.

To me, the handles make the kitchen look outdated rather than modern. We already had this style in our Ikea kitchen 15 years ago. It becomes especially noticeable given the large number of them. For a country-style design, I would rather choose cup pulls, even though they are a bit less practical since you can’t hang a towel on the handle.

a pronounced handle lover’s overhang. 😎

I would probably also choose handles, but I want to clearly say that people who DO NOT follow the current trend have my special respect.
“Modern” does not feel like a sign of quality to me. People just stick to what everyone else is doing. That’s simple.

Modern kitchens all tend to look very similarly cool (like bathrooms). I often find sharp edges and corners uncomfortable... and therefore avoid them.

This isn’t about fashion, but ergonomics.
Drawers with lengths of 80, 100, or 120 cm (31.5, 39.4, or 47.2 inches) can be quite heavy when fully loaded (up to around 80 kg (176 lbs)?), so the handle should be sturdy and easy to use, allowing the drawer to be pulled out straight.

I would give a lot more thought to the kitchen layout. There is very little space between the sink and the cooktop, the drainboard is on the wrong side, the trash bin is probably under the sink, and the dishwasher is placed between the cooktop and the sink? This doesn’t make for a very ergonomic setup...
