Hello,
can anyone maybe shed some light on this?
I've already heard from two companies that they cannot provide a quote for installing the washbasins we supplied ourselves because they are not allowed to install them dürfen. Even our plumber, who is handling the rest of the house installations, said he is not allowed to do it. Then I asked a carpentry company installing our staircase, and they also say they are not allowed to do it. I am also not receiving any offers or inquiries from my request for quotes on MyHammer.
I'm missing a piece of the puzzle here to understand. Why exactly is no one allowed to do this?

Now my acrylic bathtub has cracked and needs to be completely removed and replaced. Who would be responsible for this in your case? Provided it was installed correctly, the manufacturer would be responsible. You can prove whether it was installed properly with photos.
I dislike all that so-called warranty talk from plumbing services, which is why we bought almost everything online at half the price. With the money saved, it was more than enough not only to choose standard products but also high-quality items, including the sink, which was affordable.

If I had ordered everything online, I would now be stuck with a bathtub worth 3,500 and everyone would be blaming each other.
But since everything is handled through the plumber, I don’t have to bear any costs.
Good morning, has it already been replaced?
Of course, you transferred the liability to the contractor, but if they made a mistake, they probably don’t have 3,500 euros (about $3,850) just lying around. Plus, there are the tiles that break during removal, and so on.
In my more than 40 years of experience, I have simply seen too much, but I hope it turns out well for you. You can’t really bathe with the room temperatures anyway :^)

It apparently depends a lot on which plumber or service provider you have. Our plumber said they are not allowed (or willing) to do it because of warranty reasons, as they would then also have to cover the warranty for the parts we bought online. Simply put: I buy a counterfeit washbasin from Gilderoy & Bosch, they install it for me, the washbasin falls apart -> the plumber is liable.
He pointed out that since they would be at our house anyway for the final installation of the other sanitary fixtures, if we were to do some of the work ourselves, they would be happy to "help" us a bit. I guess if we had had some cash on hand, one of the guys might have helped a little more. But that’s just a guess; we didn’t try it because it felt too risky.

Alessandro6 Oct 2020 08:12No, it has not been replaced yet. The plumber is ordering the bathtub manufacturer to come to us to take a look at it.
Haha, that was good

So:
As expected, it will be difficult to obtain the fixtures for the plumbing system in the turnkey package...
It might be possible for fittings or a towel radiator, according to our main contractor, that wouldn’t be a problem. For the rest, he receives 0% commission, but his plumbing partner takes about 40%.
We used this as a starting point to negotiate further in other areas, as we had planned, and it worked out really well.
We are now waiting for the very final offer. Based on that offer, we will decide whether to choose this main contractor or the other one we still have in the running.
