ᐅ Why is no one allowed to install my washbasins?

Hello,
can anyone maybe shed some light on this?
I've already heard from two companies that they cannot provide a quote for installing the washbasins we supplied ourselves because they are not allowed to install them dürfen. Even our plumber, who is handling the rest of the house installations, said he is not allowed to do it. Then I asked a carpentry company installing our staircase, and they also say they are not allowed to do it. I am also not receiving any offers or inquiries from my request for quotes on MyHammer.
I'm missing a piece of the puzzle here to understand. Why exactly is no one allowed to do this?

I seem to be missing a chapter in the book to understand this. Why exactly is nobody allowed to do this?

Can’t you do it yourselves? It’s not difficult. It’s about liability. Around here, installers sometimes do it, but charge a 100% surcharge.

Yes, we have been advised that several times already. In extreme emergencies, we will do it ourselves. But we are not professionals, nor hobbyists—neither my husband nor I have ever mounted a shelf. My dad used to do that for me during his lifetime (later a tradesman), and my husband grew up without a father, in a country where nobody builds houses from stone. Both of us work in IT. So, we have zero experience.

Based on your description, I would definitely stay away from it yourself.
Here are several alternatives besides installing it yourself:
a) Use local classifieds / service marketplaces along with other smaller tasks that you probably still have to do around your home.
b) Call all local companies / building maintenance services or other general contractors (and offer a package of various jobs).
c) Place the washbasin on a table (this can be done easily yourself) and attach the support brackets at two or three points to the tiled wall using adhesive instead of drilling – and you’re done.
d) Take a wooden board to the nearest sawmill or joinery and ask them to drill the pre-marked hole for you, then pay for the service.
e) Try other options suggested by forum members.

@kati1337 If none of this works, I honestly suggest selling the house, because with any home, similar tasks will repeatedly arise that you or someone else will have to manage.
But it probably won’t come to that, because in my opinion, this isn’t really a serious problem. Follow the various suggestions here, and this thread will be resolved positively soon, or send me your location and I promise to find someone who can mount that thing on the wall! Ufff… I just can’t believe it right now.

Haha, I would also offer all remaining tasks to a "general handyman." Someone still has to hang pictures, lay a carpet, or make the bed.

Seriously, I’m currently looking for tradespeople myself and am being flooded with offers from all channels. With invoices, without invoices, local, from Poland or southern Germany, reasonable conversations or just “I want the job...” and so on. Even for small tasks, it’s usually not a problem, probably more likely in exchange for contributions to the coffee fund.

I’m sorry your father is no longer with you.
Did your father never teach you?
I’m grateful my father valued that and tolerated hearing sayings about accepting that he had no sons.

Check out your local hardware store or community college, as they often offer workshops specifically for women. Having some basic DIY skills never hurts when owning a house—there’s always something to fix or improve. YouTube is also a valuable resource; for example, I once found a step-by-step guide there to replace a spare part in my dishwasher.
