What do you like most? Why?
For us, the perfect house
What do you not like? Why?
We like everything; that’s why I’m asking here—maybe we have overlooked something.
Price estimate according to architect/planner:
Cannot say. Father-in-law and brother-in-law have their own company. The house will be a timber frame construction done entirely by ourselves. We can install electrical wiring ourselves. We can pave the yard ourselves. Drywall and jointing ourselves, etc. So, a lot of self-labor.
Personal price limit for the house, including equipment:
Preferred heating technology:
If you had to give up, which details / expansions
- could you give up: Ideally none
- could you not give up:
Why did the design turn out the way it is? For example:
Standard design from the planner?
Which wishes were implemented by the architect?
A mix of many examples from various magazines...
What do you think makes it particularly good or bad?

Ok, so having the children’s room facing east (mostly dark) doesn’t seem ideal to me. I would prefer the bedroom and dressing room to be in the warm south. I would swap the orientation for that reason. A site plan would help to understand how you are positioning the house on the plot.
I find the corridors downstairs and upstairs quite narrow and long. Isn’t that quite specific?

I’m not talking about the guest toilet, but the 16m² (172 sq ft) bathroom, even when you don’t have overnight guests?Later on, maybe only live on the ground floor, separate the dining room and turn it into a bedroom. It doesn’t hurt to have a bathroom then.

Isn't that quite clear?Well, my brother and I also had our children's rooms facing east. And actually, in summer when the sun shines strongly, it was even better. In winter, not so much. You just turn on the light then. I really don’t understand the fuss about sunlight. In my current apartment, I get annoyed every time the sun shines in and I see my glass table in the living room or the windows, even though they were cleaned recently.
A hallway that is 1.5m (5 feet) wide doesn’t feel narrow at all, in my opinion.
So if the only criticisms are the sun direction and the narrow hallway, I’m fine with that.

What is so bad about it now?Actually, everything... The rooms are just thrown together, the storage room and bathroom are too narrow, the hallway and orientation are off, and you have to furnish a 33m² (355 sq ft) bedroom. It lacks style, it lacks finesse, and the size doesn't make an impact.Similar topics
