What do you like most? Why?
For us, the perfect house
What do you not like? Why?
We like everything; that’s why I’m asking here—maybe we have overlooked something.
Price estimate according to architect/planner:
Cannot say. Father-in-law and brother-in-law have their own company. The house will be a timber frame construction done entirely by ourselves. We can install electrical wiring ourselves. We can pave the yard ourselves. Drywall and jointing ourselves, etc. So, a lot of self-labor.
Personal price limit for the house, including equipment:
Preferred heating technology:
If you had to give up, which details / expansions
- could you give up: Ideally none
- could you not give up:
Why did the design turn out the way it is? For example:
Standard design from the planner?
Which wishes were implemented by the architect?
A mix of many examples from various magazines...
What do you think makes it particularly good or bad?

pagoni202029 Sep 2020 19:00You write that it would be best to keep everything as it is because you like it.
No one can imagine from this template what or why you like it. The rooms are separate boxes without furniture, a long, narrow corridor, and so on...
For such a large project, I would definitely recommend involving a competent architect, because “large” projects without a coherent overall concept can easily go wrong.
The “typical” house floor plans that most of us have more or less can be evaluated more easily, but certainly not this one in an appropriate manner.
I believe that as a layperson (i.e., a non-architect) one should be cautious.

Spritti12329 Sep 2020 19:07The guest toilet measures 1.50 m x 2.40 m (5 ft x 7 ft 10 in).
The storage room is 1.80 m x 4.90 m (6 ft x 16 ft 1 in).
Hallway width is 1.50 m (5 ft).
The rest can be clearly seen. What kind of site plan? The surrounding plots are undeveloped land. The minimum distance from every building section to the neighboring property is at least 3 meters (10 ft). I’ve sketched in the furniture as we imagine it. The bathroom still needs to be planned. But I think the bathrooms are large enough to fit a bathtub, shower, washbasin, etc. What we especially like is the open living/dining area with a fireplace. There will be a small dining table in the kitchen and a large dining table for the family (1.20 m x 4 m (4 ft x 13 ft 1 in)). The parents’ section includes a walk-in closet and bathroom. There is a separate bathroom for the children.
Entrance from the garage into the house. The terrace has a slight courtyard feel. Lots of storage space. We simply like everything.

Spritti12329 Sep 2020 19:08You will probably recognize all the dream house ideas incorporated into the design immediately yourself — but likely no one else will. To an outside observer, the drawings unfortunately appear as a collection of rooms that alternate between being huge and questionably adequate in size. A coherent concept from your mind has clearly not managed to become visible in the drawings. The size of the house definitely requires an above-average dual-income household (both partners at the level of chief physician / prime minister). The idea that “relatives own a construction company” and “the house costs nothing” is seen very differently in reality. By the way, sharing a little insight from my experience of over three and a half years in this forum: the most flawed, unbuildable, and/or unaffordable designs regularly come from people who professionally deal with technical drawings but unfortunately not as architects and who often have used software intended for, for example, mechanical engineers.
