What do you like most? Why?
For us, the perfect house
What do you not like? Why?
We like everything; that’s why I’m asking here—maybe we have overlooked something.
Price estimate according to architect/planner:
Cannot say. Father-in-law and brother-in-law have their own company. The house will be a timber frame construction done entirely by ourselves. We can install electrical wiring ourselves. We can pave the yard ourselves. Drywall and jointing ourselves, etc. So, a lot of self-labor.
Personal price limit for the house, including equipment:
Preferred heating technology:

If you had to give up, which details / expansions
- could you give up: Ideally none
- could you not give up:

Why did the design turn out the way it is? For example:
Standard design from the planner?
Which wishes were implemented by the architect?
A mix of many examples from various magazines...
What do you think makes it particularly good or bad?

At the targeted price, only contacts with the mafia could help.

He already mentioned that they have completed a similar project within the family at that price (if that is true).

I don’t need to argue about it. If he believes he can manage it with $500,000 (or €1,400/sqm [130 sq ft]), I’m not concerned at all. The bank will surely have something to say about that.

As for me, I know it is possible (at least for 210 sqm [2,260 sq ft]) to stay below €1,500/sqm [140 sq ft], as I have just recently built myself.

In how many years? With what kind of stress? I assume there was no guarantee on construction time.

Groundbreaking was on December 9, 2019. Moving in within 6 weeks.

Manageable. oops:

No, because I awarded each trade I didn’t do myself separately to local companies.

Respect. I can’t do it, so I leave it to hopefully the professionals.

Respect
especially because two acquaintances of mine, both builders, really ran into problems. Both started before us, in spring 2017, the first one is just moving in now. Lots of downtime repeatedly.
