Hello everyone,

Interestingly, the search function didn’t show any thread addressing the topic of tipping.

We are currently wondering how tipping is handled in construction...

What is usually given? Who receives what?
Or do people rather give a case of beer and a round of coffee and snacks instead?

How have you dealt with this, or what experiences have you had on this topic?

We mostly provided "only" beverages: water, cola, Fanta, and non-alcoholic shandy. From the warmer spring season onward, we made an old refrigerator available and kept it stocked at all times. This was well received, as it allowed people to keep the often-brought lunch chilled.

We set up a trailer equipped with a corner bench, refrigerator, hotplate, and automatic coffee machine.
We restocked it with drinks every two days (soft drinks, water, beer, shandy, etc.).
It was well received.
Then everyone was invited to a large topping-out party with a roast suckling pig. Each worker also received a small gift there.

I believe workers should at least be provided with food and drinks, but we did not give any substantial tips.

Considering the quoted contractor prices, HE should rather provide for me.
No, it's fine as it is, you never know what you might need from them later on...

Just out of curiosity, who among you actually receives food and drinks from the client every day at work?

In the end, you get annoyed that you provided the stuff for free and ended up with free defects, which you then have to push through with a paid lawyer to get fixed.

Well, for me, it happens several times a week...

I am sitting in the office. No client sends me anything.
