Maybe some of you have experience?

Our newly installed refrigerator is humming. Is this still normal nowadays, or am I too sensitive? Our kitchen is part of a large open-plan space that includes the dining and living areas. I can even hear the refrigerator when I’m in the living area. What can I do? Could it be because of the large open space? My 25-year-old refrigerator in the old apartment didn’t make any noise.

Sure, the compressors are basically the same as they were 30 years ago.

Could it be the cable? Ours was extremely loud as well. I then removed the cover and repositioned the cable... now it’s fine. You can still hear it when it starts cooling, though.
