we purchased the wall cabinet Godmorgon from IKEA as well as a countertop (which is 1.36m (4 ft 6 in) long), into which our built-in washbasin will be installed later. Our wall is made of hollow brick Unipor and has a thickness of 17.5cm (7 inches) in the installation area in the rough construction stage, plus plaster.
Now, like many others, I am wondering:
I really appreciate any tips or experiences you can share.

- Which screws and wall plugs (anchors) do I need to securely mount the Godmorgon cabinet to the wall?
- Once the countertop with the built-in washbasin is installed on top, should it be additionally supported with brackets (heavy-duty brackets)? If so, which kind?
I really appreciate any tips or experiences you can share.

pagoni202010 Jul 2020 12:17...and why not use a stylish steel skid plate about 8cm (3 inches) wide on the open side? I did it this way here. The skid plate cost €50 at the metalworker, and you can even stand on it if you want. Below that, I have the same gray Ikea version. In my opinion, it looks neat and you could even attach it to the wall without any issues.

It really looks nice; I just wanted something that isn’t supported by the floor. There are also smaller skids that can be screwed to the wall. That way, the board is supported without anything resting on the floor.
If you search for "invisible shelf brackets," you’ll find other options. I’m not sure how stable those are, but there are definitely sturdy versions available. The board will need to have a certain thickness for that.
