Hello everyone,
due to the persistent joint issues with tiles, we want to use aluminum composite shower wall panels for the showers (actually three panels per shower).
Glass would also be nice, but probably a lot more expensive.
Now I wanted to ask what your experiences are with aluminum composite panels as shower walls? Can you recommend or not recommend certain manufacturers (due to quality issues)?
What needs to be considered regardless of the manufacturer? The joints around the panels will probably be sealed with sanitary silicone, right? Of course, after a few years, each silicone joint will need to be replaced.
Thank you very much for your experiences.

Do these have some kind of pattern or do they create a prison cell atmosphere?
I would go for tiles – any additional surface (texture, color, structure) tends to make the bathroom feel busy.

Prices for XL tiles, professionally installed, are around €1000 (160cm x 320cm / 63 inches x 126 inches) and €600 (120cm x 240cm / 47 inches x 94 inches). Now you can calculate how many you need yourself. Usually 3-4 tiles.

Yes, but installed (including all cutouts, etc., which is not easy at this size)

I wouldn’t go too big either, as it should fit the room and not consist of too many cuts. Starting at 60cm (24 inches) and up, it looks stylish in my opinion, especially if you have a good sense of color coordination.

You can sometimes see bathrooms with a lot of stainless steel at small highway rest stops… yuck, or as mentioned above, like in a prison.

I believe you need a good sense of creativity for this, or you can quickly get it completely wrong, which is why the classic choice of tiles would definitely be my top priority.

Besides, the options for tiles and grout are almost endless.

I found a shower back panel from Hüppe that I liked. However, even during the COVID-19 period, they refused to send me a sample and referred me to the dealers instead, so I decided against this company. I’m also concerned that it might not look as high-quality. That’s why we’re going with tiles after all.
