Good morning everyone,
As the year is coming to an end, hopefully most projects for 2019 are completed. What are your plans for 2020? Any major projects in the garden or upgrades inside the house? What will you be working on next year?
We want to finally finish and move in by January/February, so gardening and the terrace will be on the agenda for next year.
My personal passion project is the hot tub. I just haven't decided yet whether to buy one or build it myself. I definitely don’t want one of those plastic ones...
A concrete one would be amazing:

I would really be up for that too, but so far I haven’t had the time.Same here until now, but I’ve decided to make time for it. The next step will be to read my digital electricity meter using the Raspberry Pi.B

Project to set up a small smart home based on a Raspberry Pi running ioBroker by the end of 2019/2020.
- Reading data from Xiaomi Aqara temperature/humidity sensors I had planned that for a long time but never got around to it due to lack of time. Recently, I came across ioBroker and started working on it. With a bare Raspberry Pi and no prior knowledge of ioBroker, I finished in two hours with graphical evaluations of data over time from various Xiaomi sensors. Of course, you can easily spend much more time setting up dashboards, smart controls, and so on.
Plans for 2020:
- Plant the DEN tree
- Build an enclosure for 4 tons by the street, currently we have to navigate between cars to get to the other end of the driveway
- Remove 3–4 fir trees, create the last flowerbed at the driveway entrance – essentially the front garden
- Build an enclosure for the heat pump
- Set up a home office
- Redecorate the living room
- Install baseboards throughout the house
- Clear out the 50m² (540 sq ft) attic, everything must go
This year, we landscaped the garden: new hedge, lawn, wooden terrace, flowerbeds with perennials, garden shed, path in the garden.
Projects in 2020 with us:
Build a terrace
Construct a fire pit with seating
Splash guard strip
Entrance platform
Paint the base course
And over the next 5 years, develop the garden. That will take quite a while. I’m glad the previous owner had already planted some grass, so at least the backyard is somewhat green.
