ᐅ Is a Satellite System Still Necessary for New Builds, or Is IPTV Sufficient?

Hello everyone,

Please forgive me if I haven’t searched through hundreds of pages. My basic question is whether you still consider a satellite dish necessary or if you would just skip it altogether. About our profile: When we watch TV, it’s exclusively public broadcasting channels and no private channels. However, mostly we watch on-demand content like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and so on. In this context, we’re really starting to doubt whether we can save ourselves the 850 EUR gross. What do you think? Should we just stream the public broadcasting channels via Apple TV, or is it still better to have a satellite dish installed?

Thanks & good luck, Commanderchen

I would always install satellite. With IPTV, there is always a short delay of a few seconds. This is a real nuisance for live broadcasts like football.

Hello everyone,
we will receive the keys to our new house on August 1st.
The previous owner used DVB-T to receive the TV signal.
I am now deciding whether to go with IPTV through Telekom or rather SAT-IP (which I am leaning towards).
No coaxial cables or similar are installed, so that’s why I’m considering the SAT-IP option.
TV should be available in a total of 5 rooms (3 rooms upstairs and 2 rooms downstairs).
I would appreciate your help on what makes the most sense or what I will need – thanks in advance.

If you choose MagentaTV from Telekom, please make sure that your switch supports IGMPv3.

For MagentaTV, you need a separate receiver from Telekom for each television, which incurs a rental fee, right?

Are there any network cables installed at all?
Using several devices simultaneously over Wi-Fi will not be enjoyable.

There are three LAN outlets in every room, I forgot to mention that.
