Hello

I have a newly built, 5-year-old passive house equipped with a ventilation system.

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about cleaning the ducts installed inside the building structure, since these are not accessible for removing construction dust and accumulated dirt.

I have now taken some photos with an inspection camera, showing about a 1 cm (0.4 inch) layer of dust inside the exhaust duct, which is not ideal.

After much consideration, I have found a partner with whom I have solved this problem.

We offer efficient cleaning using a cleaning pig. However, before we enter the market (planned for 1.1.2019), I wanted to hear some feedback regarding new buildings with ventilation systems.

This concerns systems installed with distributors and plastic ducts.

We would like to limit our service initially to the NRW area, but here I am interested in a realistic assessment from owners of such systems.

I have one myself and want to continue breathing clean air, not dirty, dusty air...

The method we offer is truly effective and efficient.

So, let’s hear your thoughts.

Certainly the system, but what about the pipes inside the walls beneath the screed, Snowy36?

I don’t breathe in dust from the exhaust ducts since the air goes outside.
This can also be prevented with filters on the vents.
Construction dust? The system only starts operating after moving in, and if you seal the vents, nothing will get inside either.

But yes, there are cleaning methods, and they certainly make sense.

We naturally breathe in the dust from the exhaust ducts, as a filter removes many particles but not everything.

With heat recovery, the exhaust air is mixed with the fresh air and then recirculated. So, we do breathe it in.
As soon as we are on the market, you can contact me.

With Erlus, you can push a ball through yourself and then vacuum it at the inspection shaft on the other side...

And we have such a shaft on every floor.

Yes, using a vacuum cleaner is an option. However, the ball does not attract enough dust. In addition, a household vacuum cleaner does not have enough power to retrieve the ball. What happens if the ball gets stuck after 4 meters (13 feet)?

In all ventilation systems, there is the ceiling vent and the distributor. These form the beginning and the end of every duct.

With our method, you get clean ducts, guaranteed and certified.

It would be interesting if the price is right. And I think you need to calculate the business case carefully. For me, a full house cleaning every 5 years would be worth about 300 euros.
