Hello

I have a newly built, 5-year-old passive house equipped with a ventilation system.

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about cleaning the ducts installed inside the building structure, since these are not accessible for removing construction dust and accumulated dirt.

I have now taken some photos with an inspection camera, showing about a 1 cm (0.4 inch) layer of dust inside the exhaust duct, which is not ideal.

After much consideration, I have found a partner with whom I have solved this problem.

We offer efficient cleaning using a cleaning pig. However, before we enter the market (planned for 1.1.2019), I wanted to hear some feedback regarding new buildings with ventilation systems.

This concerns systems installed with distributors and plastic ducts.

We would like to limit our service initially to the NRW area, but here I am interested in a realistic assessment from owners of such systems.

I have one myself and want to continue breathing clean air, not dirty, dusty air...

The method we offer is truly effective and efficient.

So, let’s hear your thoughts.

Since we only moved in a week ago, this does not concern us yet. When we become interested in it in about 5 to 10 years, you will surely already have some experience.

This also concerns you. Cleaning before moving in is also recommended by the VDI, as construction dust accumulates there as well.

Cleaning systems for such ventilation and exhaust systems have been available for some time. Here, cleaning reels with brushes are used. A dust trap is installed to separate and collect the dust.

It is important that all ducts which are not being cleaned are sealed off with an inflatable damper. This ensures that the dust trap achieves a higher air velocity and that the loosened dust does not end up inside your home.

Yes, with our method, the surface is wiped without stirring up dust. According to our research, brushing always causes some dust to become airborne. The stirred-up dust then settles back down. We remove the dust from the pipe using our cleaning device, similar to dusting in a household setting. Additionally, the pipe is disinfected. The photo shows the cleaning cloth before and after use, after just one pass. We passed through the pipe a total of four times, and then it was clean.

So, you will be able to clean our system from Erlus yourself, which I think is even better.
