We installed the new heating system in our new timber frame house six months ago. For the past month, we have increasingly noticed white dust accumulating on the TV, microwave, and any smooth surfaces. It’s wiped away in the morning but reappears by the evening (see photos).

The heating system is a Tecalor 303 SOL, without humidity recovery or similar features.

What could this be?

Even the laptop in the drawer is full of it.

Have you ever changed the filters?

In my opinion, there is no need to change the filter yet. Was the system sealed during the construction phase? But you had no issues for five months… Hmm, as an outsider, I can’t interpret your photos. Could you try placing a filter specifically in front of an air outlet (for example, stretching a pillowcase about 30cm (12 inches) away from the vent) to determine if the dust is coming from the system?

Is the dust combustible? (How else can you identify the type of dust with household methods? Be careful, though, there is a risk of dust explosion, so think carefully before using any fire.)

There are companies that clean ventilation systems. You could invite one to take a look at the ductwork.

Before I contact any company, I speak to the person who installed it.
