We installed the new heating system in our new timber frame house six months ago. For the past month, we have increasingly noticed white dust accumulating on the TV, microwave, and any smooth surfaces. It’s wiped away in the morning but reappears by the evening (see photos).

The heating system is a Tecalor 303 SOL, without humidity recovery or similar features.

What could this be?

Is the dust coming from the ventilation system? How did it get in there? Was the system sealed during the construction phase? That would be my question, especially if you hadn’t already had five clean months...

Checked both filters today. One was completely clogged with material. It fills up like ground chalk. Replaced it immediately. According to the schedule, it was only due in 9 months.

The system was not in operation during the construction phase, and the ends were capped.

We need to keep narrowing down the issue and are also consulting the customer advisor in parallel.

The existing system will need to be cleaned, but the source of the contamination... try wiping your hand over the plastered (?) wall – is it white? A friend once had the issue where his interior plaster was crumbling.

On the other hand, the mechanical ventilation system first has to be able to draw in something like that. Strange.

Lime! In our area, they apply lime to the forests in autumn. Where do you live?

But 9 months between filter changes? I change mine every 2 months and already find that surprising. Fortunately, all the construction sites around here are finished now.
