Hello,

I was working away from home this week and stopped by the construction site briefly this evening.
I couldn’t believe my eyes.
The main contractor installed the interior window sills, but they protrude by at least 10 cm (4 inches), and probably around 8.5 cm (3.3 inches) after plastering.
Isn’t that unusual nowadays?
That was common practice in the past when you needed to hide radiators underneath.
Now all the issues begin, but surely it can’t stay like this, right?

Best regards,
Daniel

Let me guess, you have a not-so-thick stone? About 15cm (6 inches)?

I mean the exterior wall.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you. Approach it like this: I don’t want to argue now... I just want to solve this problem. For me, it’s the same issue. Let’s discuss it... but in the end, narrower window sills should be installed.

Well, with narrow bricks there simply isn’t enough space to install the usual window sills that are 20cm (8 inches) deep. That’s why it looks like it does in your case.

But it seems to be caused by something else if, as you say, you have 36.5cm (14.4 inches). Anyway, just have it fixed and move on. A good general contractor will be open to discussing this.

If necessary, I would even give him 100 euros for the inconvenience, as I don’t want to argue.
