Hello everyone,

I am now entering the critical phase, and after already modifying the floor plans once (guest room on the ground floor, removing the storage room, adding a shower, etc.), I need to make another revision since we will build a flat roof with a window door over the extension, and I will have to redesign the bedroom again. The bedroom is causing me the most concern anyway...

In this context, I would appreciate it if you could take a look at the floor plan and share your opinions and ideas. You can get “blind” to your own plans over time and often miss the obvious 😉

The plans are mostly correct, except that I will swap the window door in the guest room on the ground floor for a window (better furniture arrangement), I will swap the toilet and basin in the guest bathroom, and on the upper floor, I will move the walk-in closet entirely flush toward the children’s room so that I have more space beside the bed (otherwise it was only about 45cm (18 inches) on each side). I will upload pictures of the bedroom soon, along with an idea that includes a door.

I would also be interested in feedback on the kitchen. Should it be a U-shape, or a 4-meter (13 feet) wall with a kitchen island? What kind of window would fit then?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Can I replace this again in the original thread, or should I post it here again?

The original post is too "old," so you won’t be able to edit it anymore. Others also handle this by adding updates later in the thread.

Is it called a peninsula when it’s connected to the wall on one side?

A peninsula is an element that is connected to the main structure on one side. This can be a wall or a kitchen unit in this case.

Is the entrance side facing north, or why didn’t you rotate it to be readable right away?

But thanks, that’s how I thought about it too, then you could have breakfast there.

Exactly.
A 100 cm (39 inch) work surface width also has the advantage that you can roll out dough more deeply. The 60 cm (24 inch) width is regularly too narrow for me, and I have to use the dining table instead.

Where is the access to the terrace?
You don’t want to have to walk around the peninsula, kitchen unit, etc., just because you want to put a glass of water on the terrace.

Consider whether you want to reduce the walk-in closet by 20 cm (8 inches). Then you could move the doors of the children's rooms and the bedroom, and a wardrobe would fit against the wall behind both rooms.

I would also consider whether it might be more practical to access the bedroom through the walk-in closet. If one of you needs to get up earlier, it’s much easier if the walk-in closet is not a separate room within the bedroom, but the other way around.
