ᐅ Opening Between Bathroom and Walk-in Closet Without a Door?

Hello everyone,
We are planning to connect our bathroom with our walk-in closet. We are considering not installing a door in the opening because both rooms are quite small. What are your experiences with moisture when no door is installed? Both rooms have skylights. I would appreciate your feedback.

In our house, the bathroom regularly turns into a complete steam room when someone takes a longer shower. And this happens despite having a ventilation system. I wouldn’t want that kind of climate in the dressing room. Better to keep the door closed and that’s that.

‘nobody’ 🙄

To be honest, I wouldn’t want to go into the dressing room if my partner just had a half-hour session in the bathroom due to diarrhea or something similar.

That’s what I wanted to convey… 😉
Although you could also see ‘convey’ here as a play on words.

Considering that a hinged door would be inconvenient, we installed a frosted glass sliding door to the bathroom. Access is through a part of the adjacent room, which could be described as a "dressing area."

The sliding door provides increased privacy when needed (however, even with the door open, a person showering or using the toilet cannot be seen) and serves as an effective barrier against odors and steam. Ventilation is provided by a patio door (north-facing) and a smaller window (west-facing), allowing for sufficient cross-ventilation.

Shower and dressing area without separation? ... I wouldn’t do that because of the moisture.

I would also avoid sliding doors (we have 2) if possible. The noise annoys me every time, and the movement of "sliding" – in my opinion – doesn’t go well with "walking through."

But as I said: sometimes sliding doors are the best solution.

It depends on the size... We have a bedroom with a walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom, which was described here as very stylish.
We also have a toilet inside.
The whole area is quite spacious at 53 m² (570 sq ft)... We don’t have any issues with moisture in the closets, but we also installed three exhaust vents in the living area... The sauna will be added next year, so we’ll see how the moisture situation is then.

Our sauna is already installed.
When using the sauna (70% traditional Finnish, 30% bio sauna), the bathroom door stays closed. If there is no frost, the window is tilted open.
After sauna sessions, we ventilate the bathroom, bedroom, and walk-in closet by cross-ventilation for at least 2 hours.
We have a cedar wood sauna, which we love for the scent, and a small pouch of cedar shavings placed between the pillows.
