Hello.

We are currently figuring out how we want to design our bathroom in the attic.

The room has a fairly large floor area of over 16 sqm (172 sq ft), but the eaves height is only 1 meter (3 ft 3 in). In addition, a north-facing dormer is planned.

Requirements:
2 adults who mostly shower; however, the woman occasionally uses the bathtub. The children are 2.5 years and 2 weeks old – overhead water is disliked, so they bathe only in the tub. A toilet is also needed. There will be a guest bathroom on the ground floor, but for now, we are thinking of having 2 washbasins in the attic bathroom.

I have attached our current idea. I have marked the 2-meter (6 ft 6 in) line. The window is a dormer (technically a gable dormer).

Thanks for your opinions and suggestions. Criticism is welcome!

DerElvis, unfortunately, I don’t like the position of the washbasin on the left side of the wall that much. I think it’s nicer when you can look to the left towards the window from the washbasin. Still, thanks.

Since my bathroom planner has now hung himself twice shortly before completion, I’m attaching two drafts following Yvonne’s method:

Floor plan of a room with a kitchenette, appliances, and blue markings.

One planning attempt has actually worked out:

Floor plan of a bathroom: bathtub on the right, toilet at the bottom left, washbasin at the top, door on the left.

3D bathroom: centrally placed freestanding bathtub, washbasin with vanity unit on the right, toilet on the left.

Unfortunately, the left wall ended up being 10cm (4 inches) too long. However, this is meant only as a suggestion and it would still fit with 10cm (4 inches) less.

Hello Jochen,

We don’t really like the design with the toilet next to the door. It’s nicer if the toilet is somewhat more separated.

The other design you provided is good. However, personally, I’m not too keen on the washbasin being on the left wall. But we will reconsider that as well, thank you.

Where is the toilet by the door in Jochen’s design?

kbt09, in Jochen’s second draft from the post yesterday at 3:50 PM, the toilet is located next to the door, if I am seeing it correctly.
