Hello, we are currently planning a semi-detached house with about 170sqm (1,830 sq ft), 2 full floors plus an attic. Now the question: Either both children's rooms plus a bathroom with a bathtub and a small guest room on the first floor, and the master bedroom plus master bathroom in the attic, OR both children's rooms plus a children's bathroom without a bathtub in the attic, and the master bedroom, bathroom, and guest room on the first floor. Where do you see the advantages?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!
We have a children’s floor (3 children’s bedrooms, main bathroom) and in the attic the master bedroom + office + shower bathroom.
I rarely go into the bedroom during the day, but I do go into the children’s rooms. That way the distances are shorter. For us, it wouldn’t have been possible in terms of space to do it any other way.

Doc.Schnaggls1 Feb 2016 08:57Hello,
I would also consider the age of the two children.
If they are old enough so that you don’t need to check on them every night (possibly several times), I would place the children’s bedrooms on the first floor and the parents’ area in the attic.
Especially during the teenage or young adult years, I find it more practical this way, so that a boyfriend or girlfriend doesn’t have to sneak past the parents’ bedroom all the time 😀. But in my opinion, it also better preserves the parents’ privacy.
Best regards,
Dirk

I’m not really talking about girls or boys aged 14 or 15 here. I wouldn’t be too thrilled about that either… 🤨
But once the “kids” are legally adults 😉 – I think I definitely prefer to at least know where and (within reason) with whom they are spending time… 😎
