Hello everyone...
So, in mid-April, a new housemate will be moving in with us. It wasn’t planned, but we’re really excited nonetheless!
At the moment, Child 1 has the bedroom, which is by far the warmest room in the house due to its southeast-facing position. The laundry and guest room is currently the bedroom, and Child 2’s room is used as an office.
On the floor plan, the bottom is north.
I’m now considering turning the Child 1 room into a combined office, laundry, and guest room; making the current bedroom the main bedroom; and converting Child 2’s room into the children’s bedroom. The little one probably won’t play upstairs very often at first... 😉
How would you approach this? Any ideas? Suggestions? Feedback?

First of all: congratulations.
I would implement it just as you are thinking. You might also have some extra time since the baby crib is usually placed in the bedroom for the first few months. However, your wife will probably soon follow her “nesting instinct” (as almost every expectant mother does) and will order you (for expectant mothers, this is usually not a request but an ultimatum 😉 ) to have the nursery fully set up on time.
If Nursery 1 faces southeast, then the bedroom would be southwest and Nursery 2 northwest. In my opinion, this would make the bedroom the warmest room (due to sunlight during the hot season) and Nursery 2 the coolest room. This is also why I would prefer your room allocation.

If bedroom 1 faces southeast, does that mean the master bedroom is southwest and bedroom 2 is northwest? In that case, I would use the northwest room as the master bedroom and the other two as children’s rooms (it doesn’t matter which if there is only one child). You should consider the possibilities for furnishing and take into account the existing furniture (wardrobe, parents’ bed). The layout shown on the floor plan seems to naturally support this arrangement (wardrobe row in the master bedroom). There is still plenty of time until April, so there is no need to rush.

So, you basically have all the time in the world.
