Hello everyone,
We are currently considering the lighting for the worktop. Since we have only one upper cabinet, we plan to use the URail track system from Paulmann.
Maybe some of you have experience with this system.
If so, I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:
- Which spotlights do you use?
- Does the lighting sufficiently illuminate the worktop?
We planned to position the track 30cm (12 inches) from the front edge of the worktop. Is that correct?
If possible, could you also share some pictures so I can see how you have set it up?
Thank you.
Best regards,
Birgit

Thanks a lot

Birgit I saw the URail track and individual components at a hardware store. Everything looked fine. I then planned and purchased extensive components for a larger track lighting system for our new kitchen. During a trial assembly before installation, I was surprised and very disappointed by the poor quality of the parts when put together. There were strong color variations between parts, imprecise fits, and warping of components that do NOT reflect quality; these issues only became visible during assembly. Also, wherever there is a connector or branch piece, the technical parts (screws, springs, etc.) are visibly exposed on each side for over 3cm (1.2 inches). This cannot be covered by the cover strip. I did not want to install such poor visual quality, so I returned all the Paulmann parts. By the way, Paulmann does not refund the price for shortened URail tracks. My conclusion: If you are looking for good visual quality, you should not choose Paulmann URail.

Are they really that ugly?
They look good online.
A kitchen fitter recommended them to me. But he said the whole rail is electrified?
I can’t imagine that. Is that true? He meant that you can move the lights freely along the rail and that the power is INSIDE the track’s channel.
If the entire rail was live, there would be way fewer staff in hardware stores.
