Hello everyone,
I am currently at the stage of planning our own home where I need to define the sizes for windows, patio doors, and interior doors. Are there standard dimensions for these, or do you have any recommendations?
We look forward to your feedback.
Best regards, David

You clever one.
Original conversation with our builder when the house was planned, but we still wanted to negotiate the price: Let's use standard windows. I have a Polish supplier who always keeps them in stock and also supplies them to hardware stores. It’s good quality at a good price. That will save us another 2,500.
That was his suggestion. The result is that we were even able to use the standard pleated blinds from the Danish bed store—they fit perfectly.

I’ve reached the point where I need to define windows, patio doors, and interior doors. Are there any standard sizes for these, Standard sizes are derived from construction guideline dimensions. Facade windows are typically custom-made, mainly due to tolerances, as explained. For interior doors, this is accounted for in the construction, so stock sizes are common here: nominal guideline height is 201 cm (79 inches) (modern 213.5 cm (84 inches)), and standard widths are approximately 88.5 cm (35 inches) for regular room doors (101 cm (40 inches) to accommodate walkers), 76 cm (30 inches) for storage rooms and sometimes bathrooms, and I would size front doors at about 113 cm (45 inches) wide (stock size 110 x 210 cm (43 x 83 inches)).

Nobody buys standard-size windows for a house at the hardware store; there’s no price advantage to that. Windows from hardware stores are hardly bought just for dogs, horses, garages, or garden sheds. Of course, there is a price advantage in manufacturing standard sizes by the pallet. This is how the hardware store can maintain its margin.

Of course, there is a standard for living spaces, or whatever it is called. It deals with lighting. You can easily find it by googling.
However, I would always take twice as much space as required.
Then it also depends on the room layout and the orientation. Besides, you don't just slap windows randomly on the exterior wall; you also plan considering aesthetics and usable wall space.
