We are currently building a single-family house and had the windows installed yesterday. Now we have noticed that there are different surface textures. Our window installer never mentioned or showed us this. We wanted smooth anthracite-colored uPVC windows. We also showed photos of how they should look on the house (similar to aluminum windows). Now the windows are installed, and we have grainy uPVC windows with frames that are not angular but rather rounded. It looks terrible. We trusted the window installer because he is my grandfather. He gave completely wrong advice, and now we are left very disappointed. It doesn’t matter to me whether it’s family or not. We are paying a very high price for something we never wanted.

Sorry, but you don’t take legal action against your own grandfather with a lawyer, do you??

I would check the insurance first. Otherwise, try to have a reasonable conversation with your grandfather.

If he’s threatening to move abroad, either you started the conversation the wrong way or he’s not thinking straight...

Ultimately, you need to resolve this among yourselves.
Or accept the situation and let him try to sell the windows elsewhere.

Respect that he is your grandfather and don’t speak ill of him like that; resolve this within the family.

It would also be interesting to know what was paid unofficially as a favor. Let’s be honest, if that’s the case, you can’t really go to a lawyer anyway.

We wanted smooth anthracite-colored plastic. We even showed photos of how it should look on the house! (Similar to aluminum windows).

But aluminum doesn’t have the smooth finish that shows the wood grain, right? Aluminum "structure" has this sand-like texture, as shown on the sheet, when it is coated!

Grainy means the sand texture.

really sad.

Well, please show a photo. Honestly, I can’t imagine it looks that bad or that it’s really that sad.

This is all we received. It only states the number. On the company’s website, there are no texture options listed, only a color chart where you can’t see any grain.

You can google 436-7003, and at least for me, it always shows the sand-blasted anthracite, or grainy finish like yours.

And who said it earlier? For a smartphone, you go into stores to test the feel as well as connectivity, handling, etc., and you check online for storage capacity, GB, and many other details.

What did you find under 436-7003???

May I ask what kind of business your grandfather runs if he can just threaten to go back to Thailand like that? How old is he?
To me, this reads like a too hot summer... sorry!

Edit: Attachment shows coated aluminum. Not your color, but exactly your grainy texture. And that was ordered, wasn’t it???

Please make sure to provide some pictures. Otherwise, we will just be like "blind people talking about colors."

It doesn’t matter, I don’t expect the original poster to have anything in writing. Can profiles be economically laminated on site after installation? @11ant

I never signed my order confirmation myself. But for me, everything was detailed in the quote.

There’s just this checklist – nothing more. At least it includes a number for the lamination. That should correspond to the color chart. If not, he should have had it changed.
There’s nothing mentioned about the profiles – so I’d say tough luck.
Windows ordered – windows delivered. In case of doubt, the checklist will probably be decisive.
