ᐅ Windows – Incorrect Advice, Wrong Window Product Installed

We are currently building a single-family house and had the windows installed yesterday. Now we have noticed that there are different surface textures. Our window installer never mentioned or showed us this. We wanted smooth anthracite-colored uPVC windows. We also showed photos of how they should look on the house (similar to aluminum windows). Now the windows are installed, and we have grainy uPVC windows with frames that are not angular but rather rounded. It looks terrible. We trusted the window installer because he is my grandfather. He gave completely wrong advice, and now we are left very disappointed. It doesn’t matter to me whether it’s family or not. We are paying a very high price for something we never wanted.

We have a color chart available, and he said these are exactly the windows we wanted. Now the shape and structure are completely different. I think we will have to consult a lawyer!

There is a lawyer in the family. And once again, it shows that you should not do business with family members. No matter how much you care about each other.

And what does the number listed in the construction specification look like on the color chart?
There isn’t even a manufacturer of the membrane specified. If you enter the number, it can be either smooth or rough depending on the manufacturer.

You will also have little chance even with a lawyer.
How much does it cost to re-coat the windows?
(not that this would be cheaper than a lawyer, legal dispute, and uncertain outcome)

It doesn’t matter; I don’t expect the original poster has anything in writing. Can profiles be economically re-foiled on-site after installation? @11ant

I never signed my order confirmation myself. But all the details were included clearly in the offer.

Our window installer can also apply the film on-site if necessary. Naturally, this is more expensive than doing it in the workshop—let’s say a moderate four-figure amount.

Much more serious is the shape of the profile. That is a total loss.

Sounds like a gain for the family circle, and I don’t mean the original poster. Purchased online in Poland and then sold to the grandson at a higher price than in Germany. Ask to see the order confirmation or invoice! You should have an invoice. My window supplier gave me the performance description and certificates for the windows.

The RAL color chart is only an estimate, nothing more. There are differences in gloss level, surface texture, coating process, paint manufacturer, and so on. If you want something specific, always request an original sample and then order exactly that. It’s similar with profiles. If there is no sample available, there should at least be a technical datasheet showing the profile cross-section.

Whether you can enforce any claims simply depends on what you have actually ordered. If the description only says plastic, triple-glazed, anthracite, then the supplier can choose anything available on the market as long as it meets the specified parameters.
