Hello everyone, I plan to assemble the Ikea Brimnes bedroom set and want to prepare as well as possible to save time and avoid frustration. Therefore, I have a question for the community: Which tools are particularly suitable for assembling BRIMNES furniture? I am looking for recommendations on tools that make the assembly easier, simplify handling of the individual parts, or help avoid common pitfalls. It would be helpful to know whether having your own tools like a cordless screwdriver or special tools is necessary, or if the tools included in the package are sufficient. Thank you in advance for your tips and experiences!
I believe the question of whether the included tools are sufficient deserves a more nuanced consideration. In particular, the supplied screwdriver often lacks optimal ergonomics, which can become tiring after driving several screws.
Additionally, using a cordless drill with torque control might be viewed critically: applying too much force risks damaging materials or over-tightening fasteners.
Has anyone had experience with alternative tools beyond the usual recommendations, such as small clamps or specialized bit attachments for improved screw guidance?

In addition to the tools already mentioned, I would like to add the following:
- A small set of hex keys, since some IKEA components are fastened with them
- A multimeter is not necessary
- A non-slip mat underneath the furniture parts helps prevent slipping during assembly
I recommend a spirit level not only for aesthetic reasons but also for functional ones, as the furniture can otherwise be stressed and may warp.

Installing Brimnes is feasible for experienced DIYers without special tools, but for beginners I strongly recommend:
- A cordless drill with fine torque control
- A rubber mallet to insert wooden dowels dry and without damage
- A small clamp to hold parts securely when fitting them flush together
The included screwdriver is suitable for occasional screwing but not for assembling entire pieces of furniture, especially not for wardrobe assembly.

A multimeter is not necessaryThank you very much for the helpful addition. This gives me more confidence that I don’t need to purchase excessive tools.
I’m also interested to know if there are any sharp edges or hard-to-reach areas during the assembly of the BRIMNES set that require special hand tools to protect sore hands or to make handling easier?

I am also interested in whether there are any sharp edges or hard-to-reach areas when assembling the BRIMNES setUsually, Ikea parts are deburred, so the edges are not sharp or dangerous. However, narrow drill holes or tight corners can be easier to access with a small screwdriver or a thin prying tool. Wearing a pair of work gloves with light grip can help prevent uncomfortable pressure points on your hands.
