Hello everyone,

I am planning to fine-tune the alignment of our IKEA Metod kitchen fronts, as they are not perfectly flush and show slight differences in positioning. I am especially interested in which tools or special aids you would recommend for the precise adjustment of Metod doors. I am not only thinking about basic screwdrivers, but also tools specifically designed for adjusting the hinges, such as Allen keys or other tools that make the process easier and significantly improve the results. If you have experience with tools that are precise, durable, and helpful, and perhaps tips for the adjustment itself, I would greatly appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance!

For adjusting IKEA Metod doors, I recommend the following tools and methods:

- A suitable Allen wrench (usually 3 mm (0.1 inch)) for the hinges, as it is used to adjust the horizontal, vertical, and gap settings relative to the cabinet.
- A Phillips screwdriver for securing the fittings.
- A small spirit level or a ruler to accurately check the alignment.

The most important tool is the Allen wrench, which is often included with the doors. It allows precise adjustment in all three directions of the hinges. Additionally, rubber gloves can help prevent fingerprints on glossy fronts.

If there are irregularities, it can help to loosen the screws slightly, align the doors, and then retighten them to optimize the tension between the cabinet and the door.

That’s correct, the supplied Allen key is truly essential. Additionally, I would like to mention that a magnetic screwdriver can be very helpful, as the Metod hinges sometimes use small screws that tend to roll away.

A steady, patient hand is also useful for adjustment since the settings are very fine. If the doors are significantly misaligned, it can be helpful to first check the hinges on the cabinet body to ensure they are installed correctly.

My recommended tools:
- Allen key (3 mm)
- Magnetic Phillips screwdriver
- A spirit level or a small square

Having the tools ready makes the adjustment much easier and faster.

I only use the IKEA hex key and a magnetic screwdriver. This makes the adjustment quick, and the result is precise.

That matches my experience. I would like to add that for doors wider than 60cm (24 inches), washers can sometimes be helpful when the doors fit too tightly against the cabinet and cannot be properly adjusted.

For precise results, however, Allen keys and a good Phillips screwdriver are the most important tools, especially since the fittings on the door and the cabinet are adjusted separately.

It is also worthwhile to thoroughly check the hinges before adjustment to ensure there are no deformations or damages that could make adjusting difficult.
