Hello everyone, I recently bought some MALM furniture from IKEA, especially dressers and nightstands. Now I’m wondering which spare parts for MALM furniture are commonly needed or useful in everyday life if something stops working properly or breaks. I’m particularly interested in practical experience and typical weak points that can be fixed relatively easily and affordably with spare parts. Are there often issues with drawer slides, handles, or is it more about small parts like screws and connectors? I’d appreciate it if you could share your experiences and tips!

IKEA officially offers replacement parts for MALM furniture That’s correct, it’s best to contact IKEA’s replacement parts service directly. They can usually also help you find out if your model is still supported.S

An addition to the points mentioned: The back panels made of thin particleboard are sometimes quite fragile with MALM. If the grooves tear, it is possible to fix them with new profiles or reinforcements, but replacement parts are rarely available directly. DIY with suitable wooden parts from the hardware store is recommended here.
In summary, the most important replacement parts for MALM are drawer slides and dampers, followed by screws and possibly handles. Plastic parts are less frequently damaged, and back panels are rarely available as replacement parts. IKEA offers a range of replacement parts, but third-party suppliers can be helpful, especially for older models.
