Urs53Good morning everyone,
I am currently looking for replacement parts for the IKEA Malm bed. I was wondering if there are specially reinforced replacement parts for the Malm series that go beyond the standard original components. I mean things like strengthened bed rails, additional cross supports, or more durable screws and fasteners to significantly improve durability and stability.
Does anyone know of suppliers or solutions that manufacture or sell specially optimized or reinforced replacement parts for the Malm bed? Or at least recommendations on where to find high-quality alternatives that are better than the standard materials?
I understand that many people use the original parts, but especially with heavier use or more intense daily wear (for example, two people using the bed extensively every day), I am interested in ideas for stronger versions or upgrades. Thanks in advance for your tips and suggestions!

Interesting question!
I think IKEA designs furniture for the mass market. The components are often just barely sized adequately—nothing more. I find it quite unlikely that specially reinforced original replacement parts exist.
Perhaps this is also part of IKEA’s philosophy: low price, quick wear, and then a new purchase.
Expecting truly reinforced parts from IKEA would probably be naive.

Hello Urs53,
I can understand very well that you are looking for more durable replacement parts. Especially for beds that are used daily, stability is important.
The Malm models are primarily designed for standard use, so the replacement parts are designed accordingly.
I agree with that, but there are third-party suppliers who offer improved connectors such as stronger screws or metal brackets. However, these are not original IKEA replacement parts but rather accessories.
Another option would be to reinforce the bed after disassembly with wooden slats or metal profiles – this increases stability without significantly affecting the appearance.
