Hello everyone, some time ago I bought an Ikea Besta and mainly use it as a TV cabinet with various drawers and doors. Since I am planning for the long term, I want to be better prepared this time: based on your experience, which replacement parts are most commonly needed for Ikea BESTA? I am especially interested in defects caused by normal use—so no accidents or extreme stress. Are there particular hinges, drawer runners, handles, or other components that tend to require more frequent replacement? I look forward to your valuable experiences and tips to possibly make sourcing spare parts easier for me.

Hey rielklo! Great question – you definitely don’t want your favorite piece of furniture to fail unexpectedly. From my experience, hinges are the main components that wear out. Especially with doors, they often start sticking or misaligning after years of use, which can be really annoying when a door no longer closes properly or rattles. Drawer runners also tend to fail sometimes, especially if the drawers are heavily loaded. Handles, on the other hand, have lasted surprisingly long for me and are generally quite durable. So, my advice is to keep spare hinges and drawer runners on hand to be on the safe side!

I can relate to that well. I also initially had problems with the hinges, which, to be honest, was a bit frustrating. It’s especially annoying when you rely on the furniture and the doors suddenly become unreliable. A tip I’d like to share: Ikea often offers the hinges as replacement parts, and the repair is usually doable even for amateurs. That made things a lot less stressful for me.

I love my BESTA setup! 😍 And yes, the hinges are really the most important part. I also replaced the rollers in the drawers because they became a bit uneven after a few years. Everything worked perfectly, and Lidl (just kidding 😉) Ikea really has good spare parts. For everyone wondering if a repair is worth it: definitely! With a little patience and the right parts, it works great.

Hinges and sliding rails. Door dampers are also often affected, if installed. Handles usually last longer.

Tip: If doors no longer close properly, usually check the hinges or door closers. Replacement parts are easily available at Ikea.
