Hello everyone,
I am currently assembling my new Ikea Metod kitchen modules and have a general question, hoping to benefit from your experience:
What screw lengths are optimal to securely and stably connect the various parts of the Metod series?
Specifically, I want to choose the right lengths for the base cabinets and wall cabinets in order to use the pre-drilled holes correctly and ensure stability, without the screws being too short or going too far through the material.
There are different suggestions online, but they are often quite general. I would like to know if anyone has practical recommendations, for example for materials like particleboard or MDF, which Ikea uses, and whether different lengths are needed depending on the situation, such as for back panels, side panels, and fronts.
I look forward to your tips and especially the reasons why you prefer certain lengths!

Hey, I find this whole topic really interesting! 😄
I just wanted to say: It’s better to use screws that are a bit too short rather than too long – screws that go all the way through can quickly ruin the appearance or even cause damage.
If you’re unsure at first, just choose a shorter length and test it on an old board or scrap piece before final assembly to see how it holds.
Also, a little patience when screwing can often make more difference than the perfect length – sometimes less is more!
Good luck, it’ll turn out great!
