Hello everyone,

I’m planning to get the IKEA PAX wardrobe for my office but I’m still unsure about which additional IKEA products would best complement it. The goal is to create a functional yet visually appealing office setup that optimally combines storage space and workspace.

My requirements are:
- Expandable storage for files, office supplies, and electronics
- Flexibility in room layout
- Ergonomic considerations (e.g., desk height, seating options)

Which IKEA furniture pieces or complementary products do you think work best with the PAX, especially for an efficient office setup? I look forward to specific recommendations and personal experiences.

I would recommend using the ALEX container as a complement to the PAX. It provides additional storage space for writing instruments and small office supplies. The BEKANT is great for a desk because it is height-adjustable.

Hello,

to effectively complement the PAX wardrobe for an office setup, there are a few furniture pieces I can highly recommend based on personal experience. First, it’s important to plan the storage layout inside the PAX wisely – for example, using KOMPLEMENT shelves or drawers.

Next, I would choose a suitable desk that can be ergonomically connected with the wardrobe. My recommendation:

- BEKANT desk, height-adjustable, offers flexibility and fits well next to the PAX.
- ALEX drawer unit, perfect as a mobile pedestal beside the desk to keep essentials within reach.
- SKÅDIS pegboard system, ideal for organizing small items, tools, and frequently used accessories.

A common mistake I often see is treating the PAX only as storage without creating smooth transitions to the workspace. It’s important to keep the workspace functional by combining PAX and the desk so you don’t have to move back and forth constantly between the furniture.

In summary: use the PAX storage smartly, expand with ALEX drawer units, add the BEKANT desk as a flexible work surface, and complete with SKÅDIS for practical organization – this way you get a well-thought-out office setup.

Interesting how everyone always goes for BEKANT and ALEX, but I find that too uninspired for a modern office with PAX.

Why not try something different, for example the Linnmon table with ADILS legs? This combination is more affordable, and you can choose table tops in various sizes and colors. This way, the office doesn’t look so standardized.

Also, PAX shouldn’t be seen just as a wardrobe but as a multifunctional unit. Why not plan sliding doors to visually hide the contents when needed? With some adjustments, you can even extend the PAX with an integrated whiteboard or magnetic board – which is more motivating and helps organize better than the usual workflow.

For me, it’s too generic when everything just looks like the “standard combination BEKANT + ALEX.”
