Hello everyone,

I am currently planning to buy an Ikea Pax wardrobe and want to design the interior to be especially versatile. Therefore, I am curious which of the offered Pax interior fittings you consider particularly flexible—meaning those that can be well adapted for different types of clothing as well as various room situations.

I am especially interested in solutions suitable for a combination of hanging, folding, and possibly accessories like shoe compartments or jewelry drawers. It would also be great to hear about positive experiences with drawers or shelves.

Are there specific combinations or modular elements you would recommend to customize the Pax wardrobe in a functional and personalized way? Thanks in advance for your tips!

Hello Nelonar,

the Pax wardrobe indeed offers many options to design the interior very flexibly. I find the combination of adjustable hanging rails, customizable shelves, and modular drawers especially versatile.

- Hanging rails can be installed at different heights depending on your needs, which is perfect for both short and long garments.
- Shelves can be individually adjusted; especially when combined with baskets, you can store items of various sizes efficiently.
- Drawers are great if you want to keep underwear, socks, or accessories easily accessible.

Additionally, you can use pull-outs and internal pull-outs to better utilize the space. It’s worth thinking carefully in advance about the types of clothing you mostly have, so you can choose the right modules accordingly.

If you want to integrate shoes, the flat shelves work well, or you can opt for special shoe racks that also fit inside the Pax.

I hope this helps! If you like, I can also share examples of how I configured my wardrobe.

I agree with this and would add that the PAX interior fittings, with adjustable heights and interchangeable modules, offer the significant advantage of being changeable at any time. This makes them particularly appealing to people who want to adapt their storage over time.

Additionally, accessories such as wire baskets and wardrobe inserts for items like ties or jewelry are very functional and complement the basic setup effectively.

For a particularly versatile design, I recommend the following three elements as a base:
- Several clothes rails at different levels
- Various shelves with flexible height adjustment
- Drawers of different heights

This combination allows for very flexible use of the wardrobe, accommodating different types of clothing and accessories.

I struggled myself for some time with how to best set up my Pax wardrobe, especially because I found it hard to commit to fixed layouts.

What helped me was not trying to plan everything all at once, but starting with a simple setup like a few adjustable shelves and clothing rods, then gradually adding more elements over time.

Above all, I found it important that the interior fittings are visually appealing as well as functional. Ikea offers different fronts for drawers or baskets, which make the wardrobe feel more homely and reduce the risk of it looking too sterile or built-in.

If versatility is your goal, a mix of open and closed sections also makes sense so you can showcase your favorite items while hiding less attractive things.

Being able to “grow” and adapt the wardrobe has been the biggest advantage for me.

Maybe that could be a helpful perspective for you too?

For flexible interior fittings in the Pax system, I recommend:
- Variably positioning clothes rails
- Drawer units with different depths
- Insert baskets for small items
This way, you can quickly reconfigure according to your needs.
