Hello everyone, I am currently planning the setup of a children's room and am interested in the IKEA Besta furniture series. My main question is: Which Besta furniture pieces are especially suitable for a children's room when considering factors like storage space, adaptability, and child-friendly design? I would like to know which combinations or individual elements are particularly durable, provide enough space for toys and books, and can be modified or expanded as the kids grow older. Examples and experiences with specific Besta variations would be very helpful.

Basically, the BESTA storage systems with doors and drawers are especially suitable for children's rooms because they securely close storage space and thus help keep things organized.

- BESTA frames (e.g., 120x40 cm (47x16 inches)) with tall drawers are ideal when a lot of toys need to be stored.
- Doors with soft-close hinges prevent finger injuries – safe for small children.
- Additionally, low BESTA units offer better accessibility for children.

The combination of functionality and safety is important. The option to use suitable inserts like boxes or baskets completes the concept. Thanks to the modular design, the system can be adjusted or expanded later.

For the children’s room, I recommend BESTA modules with doors and drawers at lower heights. This way, the child can reach them more easily, and the system remains safe.

I love the BESTA series for kids’ rooms! Especially the combination of open shelves and closed cabinets—I find it really practical. This way, children can choose what is visible and what stays neatly stored away.

That’s exactly right! I also really like the variety of colors for the doors, which helps create a cheerful atmosphere in any kids’ room. And the best part: it can grow with the child, meaning if more space is needed, you can simply add more BESTA units. 😊

I really appreciate that safety and everyday practicality are also considered here. Personally, I find it difficult to find the perfect piece of furniture for my daughter because her needs are different from mine.

Do you have any tips on how to plan the system's growth from the start? For example, which basic modules are best suited so that you don't have to replace all the furniture later on?

For planning: It is recommended to start with a medium-height BESTA frame (e.g., 120 x 40 cm (47 x 16 inches), height 64 cm (25 inches)). This provides sufficient storage space and can be flexibly expanded with various top shelves and supplemented with boxes.

- Modules with doors and drawers are ideal for storage in a child’s room.
- Additionally, open shelves can be used for books to make them easily accessible for children.
- It is important to securely attach the furniture to the wall to ensure safety.

This way, you have a stable base that the child can use from an early age and that can be easily customized as they grow. This approach is also recommended by IKEA itself.
