Hello everyone,

I am currently planning to securely attach my Ikea Besta cabinets to the wall, as I am particularly interested in stability and durability. I have come across various fastening methods, ranging from the supplied wall brackets to additional angle brackets, anchors, and screws, as well as special furniture brackets. I am especially interested in which of these methods, based on your experience, work best – considering load-bearing capacity, ease of installation, and how to avoid damage to both the wall and the furniture.

Are there specific anchors or screws that fit especially well? How does the wall material (drywall, concrete, wood) affect this? And what about the pull-out strength, for example, when heavy TVs or speakers are placed on the Besta units?

I would really appreciate a detailed discussion so I can choose the best method. Thanks in advance!

To ensure a secure mounting of Ikea Besta furniture to the wall, two main factors are important:

- Wall type: Concrete walls allow the use of expansion anchors or chemical anchors, which can support heavy loads. For drywall, special hollow wall anchors or metal toggle bolts must be used.

- Mounting points: Using at least two fixings at different heights significantly increases stability.

It is advisable not to use screws that are too short for the wall mounting; 50 mm (2 inches) or longer is ideal when paired with the correct anchors. On the furniture side, screws with a length of at least 30–40 mm (1.2–1.6 inches) are sufficient.

Finally, I recommend following the manufacturer’s specifications for anchors and performing a structural calculation of the expected loads if the installation will be subject to heavy strain.
