el_burbotto20 Mar 2016 19:52Hello everyone,
Yesterday, our custom-made Personlig countertop was delivered. We have an L-shape, and the countertop came with the appropriate joint router cuts. I thought IKEA would also provide the necessary countertop connectors, but apparently, that’s not the case.
Do you have any recommendations for the best connectors to use?
Do I need anything else besides the countertop connectors? Do I also need Lamello biscuits?
I plan to install the countertop over the Easter weekend, so I would be very grateful for any valuable tips and advice.
Thank you very much and best regards!

assamerer21 Mar 2016 11:49We don’t have IKEA panels but used this groove from Hornbach and the connectors from your picture. That’s more than enough – I pushed the panels edge to edge and then tightened them. A kitchen installer told me you could tape the cut edges or cover them with silicone, but I didn’t do either. It fits perfectly.
Alternatively: Take a picture of the panels and go to your local hardware store to ask how to best connect them.
Note: For a 90cm (35 inch) corner base cabinet, the connector on our cabinet ended up exactly on the cabinet support beam – a real hassle to manage!

IKEA-Experte21 Mar 2016 14:16I also think the connectors should be included and were forgotten. If grooves are milled into the end faces, tongues should fit into them. It is advisable to apply silicone to the end faces to prevent the panel from swelling as easily if water gets into the joint.
A few weeks ago, I installed the kitchen in our granny flat using Personlig countertops. The corner joints were milled. When ordering, you could specify where the corner milling should be done, so that, for example, one countertop wouldn’t be very long while the other is short. We also have a corner base cabinet and were able to avoid—like Assamer mentioned—the connectors being positioned over the cabinet support by choosing the milling location in advance.
Since the countertop has a rounded front edge, simply screwing the pieces together at a right angle is not possible; the milling has to ensure that the front edge continues smoothly around the corner. You can do a diagonal cut if you want to cut the countertops yourself with a circular saw. However, then you would also have to make the slots for the Lamello connectors and the holes for the fasteners yourself. In my opinion, it’s not really worth it.
The Personlig countertops are delivered completely by IKEA, including Lamello connectors and fasteners, and everything is pre-milled. A small packet of special silicone adhesive is even included. Assembly was very easy.
If you want a very simple solution, IKEA also offers metal strips for corner connections, allowing you to join the countertops without milling and cover the cut edges. But aesthetically, that’s a different matter.

el_burbotto21 Mar 2016 19:57Hello everyone, thank you very much for your responses. Since some of you mentioned that the countertop connectors might have been forgotten, I called the hotline. I spoke with a very knowledgeable representative *ahem*.
According to him—and he had to double-check with his colleagues—no assembly materials like screws, biscuits (Lamello), or similar are included. You just have to place the countertop on the base cabinets and screw it from underneath. When I asked why the grooves were made then, he couldn't provide an answer. When I pressed again about the screws, he said I would have to get them myself from a hardware store. They are not available for purchase at IKEA—not even afterward.
So, I will now go to the hardware store and see if I can find such countertop connectors there. ops:
