Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a Malm bed from IKEA, but unfortunately, the drawer slide is partially damaged and some screws are missing. Now I’m wondering where I can find suitable replacement parts for Malm furniture. Are there official spare part sources from IKEA, or would you recommend third-party suppliers instead? It is important to me that the parts are genuine and fit without any problems, as I don’t want to have to experiment with incompatible accessories. Does anyone have experience with specific shops or databases that offer replacement parts specifically for Malm furniture? Thanks in advance for your tips and advice!

Drawer slides often follow standards, and screws are available at any hardware store.

You really need to be careful here. Although Malm is a standard product, IKEA sometimes uses proprietary components, especially for the telescopic rails. A cheap alternative can easily stick or not run smoothly, which ultimately causes more problems.

That’s precisely why the official route is often the best guarantee for durability and proper fit. In the long run, you end up paying more if parts have to be replaced frequently. Quality comes at a price, even with furniture.

Hey everyone!

I recently ordered replacement parts for my MALM dresser myself and I’m really happy with the process!

A quick tip: IKEA offers replacement parts through their website, you just need the exact product name and ideally the serial number. The order is then processed through customer service, sometimes by email, sometimes by phone.

I received my drawer slides and some screws within a week, all in original quality!

I can only recommend going through this official route, even if you have to wait a few days. 🙂

Hello everyone,

I would like to add a structured guide on how to best find and order spare parts for MALM furniture:

1. Identify the parts:
- Product number of the furniture: usually found on the assembly instructions or stamped on the piece.
- Precisely determine the faulty component (e.g., drawer slide type A, screw M4x25).

2. Check the official source:
- IKEA website: there is a spare parts request section.
- Have the customer service phone number ready.

3. Place the order:
- Often you need to order by phone.
- Keep the part number ready.

4. Consider alternatives:
- Third-party suppliers (e.g., specialist hardware stores) if IKEA cannot supply.
- Compare measurements and product details carefully! Not all parts are compatible.

5. Avoid mistakes:
- Ordering the wrong parts.
- Mixing standard parts with IKEA original parts.

Summary:
To be on the safe side, it is best to use the official IKEA spare parts ordering service. For straightforward parts, hardware stores or specialized shops can be a good option. 🙂

Hope this helps!

Good morning! 🙂

I want to emphasize how important it is to use the exact product name when ordering.

I once replaced a drawer slide on a MALM bed and found out that there are different versions – depending on the year of manufacture, the dimensions and mechanisms can vary.

Ordering the wrong spare parts can actually make the repair more difficult.

So my advice: check the product number carefully and make sure to confirm whether the spare part is compatible with the specific model and year. This way, you can avoid frustration!

Exactly! But for screws with standard sizes that might be missing, I personally find it easier to get them at the hardware store 😉

Otherwise: Mefinbar, if I still owe you the links – you can find IKEA replacement parts here: https://www.ikea.com/de/de/customer-service/product-support/

I can look up a few third-party shops later,

and hey, searching for screws is almost fun once you find the right box :-)

Just for completeness: Anyone ordering spare parts from IKEA should be aware that the prices for individual spare parts can be quite high, especially compared to cheaper, often compatible alternative products.

That is correct, but these standards should be checked carefully. Despite standardization, there are subtle differences in running quality and materials, which can make a difference especially for furniture like MALM, which is relatively lightweight and delicate in construction.

Apart from that: Those familiar with the measurements and who compare the technical drawings carefully can certainly decide for themselves whether third-party parts are suitable.
