ᐅ When did the Ikea Billy bookcase change its beech finish?

I just bought another Billy shelf in beech and noticed that the color tone does not match the older shelves. It used to have a more reddish tone. The new shelf looks paler in comparison.

Does anyone know when Ikea changed the color and where to still get the old shelves?

Even if I might come across as a bit pedantic and unpopular now...

are you sure that your old shelf hasn’t simply darkened a bit over time?

That was my initial thought as well. But it’s not real veneer, just a plastic imitation. It doesn’t darken over time. Also, I have bought several shelves from the Billy series at different times. They all had exactly the same shade.

It’s not only darker but also has a more reddish tone.
