Hello everyone, some time ago I bought several Brimnes furniture pieces from Ikea and would like to know the specific warranty Ikea offers on this furniture series. I am especially interested in whether the warranty only covers manufacturing defects or also damage caused by normal use. Is there a time limit, and what are the exact conditions for making a warranty claim? Additionally, I would like to know if the warranty is valid throughout Germany or if there are regional variations. Thanks for your help!

Ikea offers a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty on most of its furniture, including the BRIMNES series.

That is correct. I would like to add that Ikea explicitly promotes this warranty as a "manufacturer’s warranty" to clarify that it does not replace the statutory warranty but is a voluntary commitment by the manufacturer. The statutory warranty of two years remains in effect and covers not only manufacturing defects but also claims for hidden flaws immediately after purchase.

The warranty terms are clearly defined in Ikea’s general terms and conditions, and customers should read them before purchase or at the latest upon delivery.

My main concern is the stability of the bed frame and whether damages to the storage bed mechanism are covered by the warranty.

I can explain this in more detail: The stability warranty covers load-bearing capacity and the prevention of breakage due to material fatigue. This means that if the bed is used under normal conditions (e.g., average body weights according to standards) and breakage or other damage still occurs, the warranty applies.

For the storage bed mechanism, the most common issue is a defect in the hinges or the lift system. Ikea guarantees replacement or repair for functional failures as long as there are no external factors such as moisture or mechanical damage (e.g., from improper use). If you use your bed intensively or notice unusual stresses, it would be helpful to know if you suspect any exceptional circumstances so I can specifically address potential risks.
