Hello everyone, I have an issue with my IKEA Besta cabinet doors. Recently, they no longer close properly; when pushed shut, they either remain slightly open or immediately pop back open, even though, to my recollection, the hinges are correctly adjusted. Has anyone experienced the most common causes for this type of door not closing and how to fix the problem efficiently? The doors are about 2 years old, made of MDF with a plastic laminate, and I haven't noticed any visible damage to the edges or hinges. I would appreciate any tips or guidance!

If I want to adjust the door deeper (i.e., bring it closer to the cabinet), should I turn the screw clockwise or counterclockwise?Hey, great question, I had the same issue once. Usually, turning the depth adjustment screw clockwise will bring the door closer to the cabinet. However, this can vary depending on the type of hinge. It’s best to make small quarter turns and test frequently to avoid damaging the surface film. Small steps make all the difference!
Good luck, you’ll get it!
I want to encourage you! 🙂 Besta doors are very flexible and that’s exactly why they are not too complicated to repair. I once had a door that kept sagging, even though all the hinges were properly adjusted. My solution was: - Completely loosen all screws - Slightly align the door so it sits flush within the frame - Then tighten the screws again and make minimal adjustments with the hex key - Result: Door closes perfectly again 🙂
Sometimes it seems complex, but with patience you can definitely manage it!

A bit more precisely: First, adjust the screw for the depth to align the door with the cabinet. Then, set the height so the door doesn’t stick at the top or bottom. Adjust the side screw if the doors hang next to each other. Always make small adjustments and test gradually.
