ralffloHello everyone, I have a problem with my IKEA Metod doors: after installing the doors, the hinges simply don’t align properly, neither horizontally nor vertically. The doors sometimes don’t close flush or have gaps that are too large compared to the cabinet, even though I followed the instructions exactly. I checked the metal plates on the cabinet, but adjusting them doesn’t result in a perfect alignment. Does anyone have tips or experience with what to do if the IKEA Metod door hinges don’t fit properly after installation? Are there any common pitfalls or tricks I might have overlooked? Thanks in advance!
First, check whether the hinges are properly seated in the mounting hole. Sometimes they can be slightly misaligned. Also, ensure that the metal plates sit flush on the cabinet frame. You can fine-tune the door's horizontal and vertical position using the adjuster on the back. If it still doesn’t fit, verify that you have the correct hinges for your door thickness.

Are there any known pitfalls or tricks that I might have overlooked? The biggest challenge is often that the hinges and mounting plates don’t have perfectly flat surfaces or cause slight misalignments. Adjustment options are limited, so the position of the metal plate on the cabinet frame is crucial. I recommend aligning the metal plates precisely and, if necessary, gently widening the mounting holes with a pointed screwdriver to compensate for minor misalignment. Also, removing and reattaching the doors after adjustment can help prevent any skewing.

JEREMIAH3811 Jan 2020 07:52The problem is really frustrating; I’ve experienced it myself. It’s annoying when you follow the instructions exactly, but the doors still don’t sit flush in the end. Sometimes, it really helps to patiently loosen the screws bit by bit and carefully adjust the door. At first, I thought I had done everything wrong, but making small adjustments to the hinges gave me good results. Hang in there—it’s worth it!

I also had issues with my Metod hinges, but with some patience and willingness to fine-tune, everything ended up fitting perfectly. Just don’t get discouraged—you can definitely manage it! Good luck with the adjustments, and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask!Similar topics
