Hello everyone, a few days ago I ordered an IKEA Brimnes piece of furniture and when unpacking it, I noticed that essential parts for assembly were missing. Specifically, screws and wooden connectors that are absolutely required according to the instructions are not included.
I would like to know how you handle such situations: Do you contact IKEA directly with photos? What has been your experience with customer service regarding missing parts? Is there a way to get the missing parts replaced quickly and easily? Are there any tips on which department or contact point within IKEA is best to reach out to if the hotline tends to have long wait times?
I am looking for practical advice since I would like to complete the furniture soon and cannot continue assembling it as is. Thanks in advance for your support!

How large is your piece of furniture exactly? Sometimes there are variations that require different assembly methods and therefore different parts.Thank you for the detailed advice. My piece of furniture is the Brimnes bed with drawers, article number 102.445.09. Definitely, screws for the side panels and also the wooden connectors for the drawer slides are missing.
I have searched the packaging multiple times, unfortunately without success. The packing slip is included, but I can't find any specific information about exactly where the small parts should be – which makes checking a bit more difficult.
From what I understand from your tips, contacting customer service seems to be the right step. Does anyone have experience with how long it usually takes for replacement parts to be delivered by IKEA? And will I have to pay for this?

If it’s urgent, you might want to check at a local hardware store to see if the screws are available in the standard size – that can help bridge the waiting time.
I know this isn’t always possible, but this approach has saved me a lot of stress.
Otherwise, IKEA usually keeps you updated via email or phone.

I searched the packaging thoroughly, but unfortunately without success.I know that feeling all too well! In my case, the missing screws were hidden at the very bottom corner of the packaging.

A little tip: The IKEA hotline sometimes requires a lot of patience, but if you stay polite and clear, you usually get exactly what you need – sometimes even with a wink. 😉
