Hello everyone,
I recently assembled a Billy bookshelf from Ikea and unfortunately found that some parts were missing. Specifically, the middle shelves and a few screws were not included in the package. My question is: What is the best way to handle missing parts for Billy bookshelves? Are there official methods through Ikea to obtain missing individual components, or do you have other experiences or tips for getting the missing pieces as easily as possible?
A brief explanation upfront: This is a standard Billy bookshelf measuring 80x28x202 cm (31½x11×79½ inches), and I made sure to order the complete set – but obviously, something was still missing.
I look forward to your helpful responses!

The item number is 102.821.56.Great that you have the number!
As a supplement: If the purchase was made in-store with a customer card, it is indeed easier to track the purchase. You don’t necessarily need a receipt then.
If you have a customer account, it’s also worth checking your online account on Ikea.de, where you can view your purchases by logging in with your email address.
If you call Ikea customer service: stay calm and polite – the staff are happy to help, and missing items are usually resolved quickly.
Good luck!

Sometimes talking directly in the store helpsI can confirm that. IKEA stores often have a spare parts counter or a separate service point where you can request missing connectors or shelves. My advice: Stay as precise as possible when describing the issue, provide the item number and the exact missing parts – this makes the search much easier.
Another option, if you are at the store in person: Ask for the assembly department. They sometimes have sample pieces and can help find the right part for you.
Otherwise: Don’t lose patience; spare parts sometimes take a few days to arrive.

I can only recommend having all information available as precisely as possibleVery important! Especially since Billy shelves use standardized components, it is helpful if you specify exactly what is missing (e.g., "shelf panel 80cm x 28cm (31.5 inches x 11 inches), thickness 2.5cm (1 inch), color white").
If you like, I can help you find the correct designation from the assembly instructions.
Also: When Ikea ships the parts, carefully check the delivery to make sure nothing is missing or damaged again.
